A Message from Jill
Welcome to the web site for the Church of St John the Evangelist in Kingston Park, Newcastle upon Tyne.

I’m Deacon Jill Henderson, the minister here at St John’s, taking up my appointment recently at the beginning of September 2024 after leaving Crewe & Nantwich where I had previously served for 6 years amongst rural and town communities. Prior to that I served for 4 years in Hull City Centre, with no church but ministering amongst “the poor, the politicians and the party goers of the city.”

I have had the great privilege of seeing so many lives touched and transformed by the love and power of Jesus – the homeless, sex workers, those living with addictions, the lonely, the bereaved, rich and poor.

I know from experience that St John’s is a very welcoming place. We are an ecumenical partnership with four church traditions, Anglican, Methodist, Baptist and United Reformed Church, coming together to serve our local community.

Our worship takes on various styles, with music led by our amazing worship band. People young and old, from a range of backgrounds and nationalities, unite together in worship, along with a growing Junior Church.

Come and join us at 10 am on Sunday!

We have a number of small groups that meet in person and online, supporting folk on their faith journey – creating opportunities for people to ask questions and share their stories.

If you are just looking to make some friends, why not drop in to our Community Coffee Morning, “The Beacon,” at 10-12 on Wednesdays for a chat, and maybe stay for our short lunchtime Communion Service at 12.30.

Check out our list of activities and special events.

If there’s something you specially want to talk about, please do not hesitate to contact me.
